Dr David Turner BSc MBChB MSc PhD MRCP(UK) FRCPath FHEA is the Principal Investigator for both the COV002 vaccine and the What’s the STORY trials. He qualified in medicine in 1989. Having worked in Nottingham for the past 24 years, he is Associate Professor of Clinical Microbiology at the University of Nottingham and Honorary Consultant Microbiologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. He is also an advisor for The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Recently, he has been helping with the care of patients with COVID-19 on the Adult Intensive Care Unit at Queen’s Medical Centre.
Dr Simon Royal BMedSci BM BS MPH MRCGP in the Principal Investigator on the Principle Trial and is a co-investigator on the COV002 vaccine and the What’s the STORY trials. He has been a GP in Nottingham for over 20 years and has been working with David on vaccine studies for over 10 years. He also works for the NIHR CRN East Midlands as a primary care clinical specialty lead and is an honorary Assistant Professor in the School of Medicine Division of Primary Care at the University of Nottingham.
Dr Neil Oldfield is a co-investigator on the COV002 vaccine and the What’s the STORY trials. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham and has been working with David and the study team for several years, most recently on the ‘Be on the TEAM: Teenagers against Meningitis’ trial.
Daniel Hammersley is the COO of UNHS. He is very good at motivating people to do things but would be first to agree that Hayley our practice manager is the secret to the maintenance and running of Cripps.
Sue Belton is the nurse manager at UNHS. She heads a wonderful team of nurses and is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care.
